Kutch has two of India's busiest ports, Kandla and Mundra, and Gandhidham is the logistics town between them. The region handles containers, edible oil, chemicals, coal, timber and salt, served by freight stations, tank farms, transporters and clearing agents.
Container freight stations
Bulk and liquid cargo
Tank terminals track product by tank, with dip, temperature and customer-wise stock. Bulk yards track heaps by consignee and weighbridge movements.
Transport
Vehicles waiting at the port gate earn nothing. Turnaround time is the transporter's real metric.
Timber and salt
Kandla is the country's main timber import point and Kutch produces most of India's salt. Both need lot-wise stock, measurement and dispatch by rail and road.
Cost
Built once, with a year of AMC free.
