Ludhiana's knitwear trade is seasonal and unforgiving. Winter stock has to be designed, produced through a chain of fabricators and delivered to dealers before the cold arrives. Whatever is unsold in February is next year's discount.

Fabricators
Much stitching is done by outside fabricators. The system keeps each one's material balance, pieces due, rates and payments, and shows which lots are late.
A late lot in October is a lost sale in November.

Costing per style
