Jamnagar is India's brass city. Thousands of units in Shankar Tekri, Dared and Kanalus turn imported brass scrap into rods and then into electrical pins, sanitary fittings, fasteners and precision components. Material is bought, processed and sold by weight, while customers order in pieces.
From scrap to component
Weight is the control
Brass is valuable and every operation produces turnings. A job worker's account is settled on weight: rod issued, parts received, swarf returned and the allowed loss. Software must keep that balance for each worker, every day.
Rod out, parts in, swarf back. If the three do not add up, someone is keeping the difference.
Costing and rates
Metal price moves daily. Quotations and orders should carry the metal rate on the day, with labour and plating added per piece, so margin is not lost between order and delivery.
