Budget mobile app maintenance from the responsibilities needed to keep the product usable and supported: platform compatibility, dependencies, backend operation, integrations, incidents and planned improvements. Separate recurring work from new feature development. A percentage of the original build price is not a sufficient explanation of what a maintenance agreement includes.

CTA Background

Let’s estimate your app maintenance budget.

Bring your requirements and the decisions you need to make. We’ll help you clarify the scope, explore the trade-offs and plan the next step.

01

Identify what can change after launch

List operating-system support, store requirements, third-party services, application dependencies and the backend. Also include business changes such as new roles or altered payment rules.

Distinguish work driven by an external change from a defect against agreed behaviour. Both may need attention, but their commercial treatment and prioritisation should be explicit.

02

Build a responsibility and cost register

WorkstreamRecurring responsibilityScope question
Platform supportVerify supported devices and systemsWhich combinations are covered?
DependenciesReview and apply appropriate changesWho evaluates and tests them?
BackendOperate data and business servicesWhich availability and recovery needs apply?
IntegrationsHandle provider changes and failuresWhat is included versus separately scoped?
IncidentsInvestigate, communicate and recoverWhat coverage and escalation exist?
ReleasesPrepare, verify and distribute changesWho controls accounts and approval?
Product improvementAddress validated new needsWhat budget is reserved separately?

Use the register to compare agreements. A fee without coverage, assumptions and exclusions is difficult to assess.

03

Calculate an illustrative monthly scenario

Suppose a hypothetical plan allocates 24 hours to platform and dependency work, 16 to operating review and 20 to incident capacity. The assumed total is 24 + 16 + 20 = 60 hours.

At an invented blended rate of INR 2,000 per hour, that scenario equals INR 120,000, before separately identified provider charges or new features. The hours and rate are arithmetic inputs, not Drema prices, a market average or a recommended maintenance allocation.

Replace the scenario with the actual support boundary. Reserved incident capacity may be unused in one period and insufficient in another; the contract should explain how that is handled.

04

Include testing and release effort

A small code change can require regression checks across important journeys and supported environments. Define the release evidence needed rather than pricing only the time spent editing a file.

Record who owns store accounts, signing arrangements, infrastructure and integration credentials. Operating access held only by a departing supplier can create transition work unrelated to the size of the code change.

05

Review the budget using real evidence

Classify completed work by incidents, external changes and product improvements. Inspect recurring failures rather than indefinitely paying to repeat the same manual recovery.

Update the plan when the supported population or product scope changes. A public app serving more devices and integrations may need a different arrangement from the original controlled pilot.

06

Questions buyers ask

Does maintenance include every future feature?

Only if that scope is explicitly agreed. Separate restoring intended behaviour from extending the product.

Can support be priced before launch?

Use a scenario with clear assumptions, then review actual workload. Keep uncertainty visible rather than implying a fixed fee guarantees unlimited coverage.

07

Prepare the operating plan

Bring the device boundary, integration inventory and support expectations. Use the mobile app budget guide and mobile development overview to connect build and maintenance scope.
